Vlada is my first dog ever, and she’s taught me so much — often in funny (and messy) ways. For example, I quickly learned never to leave freshly baked fish cooling on the stove, unless I want it to mysteriously disappear. I also discovered that my king-size bed no longer belongs to me — only a small sliver on the edge, because the princess insists on sleeping diagonally.

One New Year’s Eve, I learned that Vlada is terrified of fireworks. Without thinking much about it, we all went outside to light a few small fireworks on the front lawn. Suddenly, Vlada bolted. I spent an hour driving around our neighborhood, still covered in confetti and glitter, asking everyone if they’d seen a 60-pound white fur baby. Meanwhile, that baby was sitting calmly by the front door, waiting for me to come home after her little adventure. I was so relieved to find her! So relieved, in fact, that I barely noticed she was covered in… well, let’s just say it wasn’t glitter. Straight to the shower we went.
Vlada hates baths, but I had no choice. The only soap I had was one of my own — a handmade bar from Zapah Naturals. To my surprise, it lathered beautifully and left her fur clean, soft, and smelling heavenly. That was the happy ending to a stressful night.

Natural Soaps for Dogs
The next day, I started wondering: could I make a soap designed specifically for dogs? As always, I did my research — and what I found convinced me that our furry friends need natural bath products just as much as we do. In fact, they may need them even more. Dogs’ skin isn’t built to handle the harsh chemicals found in many store-bought shampoos and soaps.
We pay close attention to what goes *into* our dogs’ bodies through their food — so why not care just as much about what goes *on* their skin and fur? Natural soaps and shampoos can help soothe dryness and itchiness, while synthetic products often make those problems worse.
WOOF! Soap Bar by Zapah Naturals
Our WOOF! All-Natural Dog Soap Bar is handcrafted with olive oil, coconut oil, and shea butter — ingredients known for their moisturizing and healing properties. Olive and coconut oils leave your dog’s fur silky and shiny, while shea butter is rich in vitamins that can help heal minor scratches or rough patches on pressure points.
This bar contains **no essential oils**, since some (like tea tree) can be harmful to pets, and strong scents can overwhelm their sensitive noses. However, we’re already working on a new version with gentle lavender — known to help repel fleas — coming soon to Zapah’s pet care line!
